On the outskirts of kajiado county, just a few kilometers from kitengela town sits a rare, sacred and magnificent tree. Ficus natalensis/Ficus thonningii is a special type of fig tree popularly known as the Mugumo tree.  For generations the tree has been   considered sacred among the African communities and towers over other trees growing over 90 meters (295 ft.). The symbol of power, life and fertility is mostly found in big forests like Mount Kenya, however A trip to kitengela has changed this narrative as it is home to this evergreen fig tree.
